Welcome to Glossop and District Sailing Club and thank you for Considering joining. I am sure that you will find that the Club offers a friendly and helpful atmosphere in which you can enjoy the excellent sailing at Torside. We benefit from prevailing South Westerly winds blowing up the open valley and the water offers sailing craft an exciting environment for all types of sailing craft.
The Club is managed by an Executive Committee, any of whom will be delighted to show you around and respond to queries you may have. Please don't hesitate to contact us.
The Club Offers a full and varied sailing programme for all levels of experience and expertise. Sailing is organised every weekend from March to December, with club races on Sundays. There is also organised sailing on Wednesday evenings from May to August. Club members may sail at these and any other times, providing no National event is taking place and club
safety rules are followed.
The Club has a strong junior section who learn to enjoy sailing under supervision on Friday evenings. Sailboards, Topper & Optimist dinghies are available to junior members or the children of family members (and friends).
Members are asked to undertake and share the various duties required during the sailing season on a roster but the demand on members is not great.
The clubhouse provides good changing & catering facilities and a licensed bar. It occupies a fine location for relaxing and socialising after sailing.
Please forward your application to me and I shall then contact you as soon as it has been passed to the Executive Committee.
In the meantime, please feel free to ring us on 0161 227 9506
