GSC in the Community
![]() | Taster sessions & community visitsTaster sessions provide excellent opportunities to experience the joys of sailing for the first time. On the water and under the close supervision of skilled club members you will be able to see and feel how a sailing boat works for yourself. |
RYA OnBoardWe have now won recognition as one of the RYA OnBoard clubs. OnBoard is the RYA’s national programme to help introduce sailing and windsurfing as a sport for young people and families whatever their needs and ability. As an RYA OnBoard club, we meet the legislative requirements and best practice for training in outdoor pursuits, and can offer a safe and structured environment for learning our sport. Over the course of the season, we are planning a calendar of “taster” sessions, novice and improvers’ sailing courses, family weekends, and a mid-summer sailing school, and are working with the RYA’s North West OnBoard co-ordinator to present these opportunities around schools and youth groups in the local community. | ![]() |
![]() | Links with Schools and ClubsWe actively encourage links with schools and youth clubs throughout the whole area, and arrange fun group activities to introduce local youngsters to watersports in a safe controlled environment. We welcome enquiries from interested local organisations. |
Community funded partnershipsGlossop Sailing Club has close links with High Peak sport and community organisations, and receives grants from community funding partnerships to provide equipment and boats to help us expand the scope of our work in the community.
